A Visit from NSLI-Y Alumni attending the Yeosu International Expo
On Friday, July 20, current NSLI-Y Korea students met with 5 NSLI-Y alumni, who are visiting Korea as US student ambassadors to the Yeosu Expo. The alumni are in Yeosu using their Korean language skills to connect with Koreans and members of the international community and to discuss the expo’s topic, “The Living Ocean and Coast.”
The NSLI-Y alumni shared tips and insights with current NSLI-Y students about building their Korean language skills, getting the most out of their experience in Seoul, and using their language skills in future endeavors.
The five NSLI-Y alumni were selected to be Student Ambassadors at the USA Pavilion at the World Expo in Yeosu, South Korea this summer. Rachel Geller, Susan McClannahan, Bjorn Schwartzenbach, Marisal Dobbins, and Jenna Morrison are currently enrolled in colleges and universities in the U.S., and are among the forty Student Ambassadors representing the U.S. at the Yeosu Expo. As Student Ambassadors, they have many opportunities to use their Korean language skills while greeting visitors to the USA Pavilion. On July 4, the Student Ambassadors met with a U.S. Presidential Delegation that included Department of State Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Adam Ereli.
